A BARF diet generator for dogs — an optional proposal you can reshape.

What the generator’s calculation engine does

The calculation engine creates a proposal by evaluating product and amount options against structured nutritional data, the dog profile, available thresholds and constraints. The proposal then opens in the same editor and analysis used for a manually built diet.

• estimates the portion from the healthy-adult dog profile and energy context
• evaluates products and amounts in the healthy-adult profile context
• uses nutritional data for foods and supplements
• compares covered parameters with available source thresholds
• passes the proposal to the same 68-parameter analysis

It is a starting point for further work, not a promise of a recipe suitable for every dog. Review and adapt it just as you would a diet built manually.

How the generator builds a dog’s diet

The whole process comes down to three steps, and you can preview and change every result straight away:

• 1. The healthy-adult dog profile — weight, activity, neutering and body condition (BCS).
• 2. Product selection — the generator picks meat, bone, organs, fish and vegetables and converts the grams into a daily portion.
• 3. Proposal analysis — it shows 68 parameters, an S–F score and the available reference thresholds.

Every product, amount or supplement change recalculates 68 parameters live. For parameters covered by NRC, FEDIAF or AAFCO, the available thresholds remain separate by source.

Generator or building by hand — why automate when you keep control

The generator is not the core of the BARFLAB workflow. You can manually create an empty diet and build the entire recipe yourself, or request a proposal and then reshape it. Both paths use the same editor and analysis.

The generator is a starting point, not an oracle — the final shape of the diet always depends on you and, if needed, on advice from a vet or a nutritionist.

What the engine considers in a proposal

• the daily portion from the energy requirement (RER/DER)
• the split into meat, meaty bone and organs (including liver)
• calcium, phosphorus and the Ca:P ratio
• iodine, zinc, copper, manganese and selenium
• omega-3 fatty acids (EPA/DHA) from products with declared EPA and DHA values
• available thresholds and constraints for analysed parameters
