Cat diet calculator — build a homemade meal and review it for a cat.

For a healthy adult cat, you can manually start from an empty diet and choose the products and amounts yourself. BARFLAB supports raw, cooked and steamed diets. The calculator covers 68 analysis parameters for cats. For nutrient results, it shows which products contribute and how much. Its calculation engine can create an optional proposal. After the proposal is generated, you can edit every product and every amount.

A homemade cat food calculator for a healthy adult cat

The cat food nutrient calculator provides recipe analysis for a healthy adult cat. You choose foods and amounts by hand, and the analysis includes parameters important to cat nutrition.

You can work with raw, cooked or steamed food. For heat preparation, available retention and yield factors estimate changes; the result depends on the food and method and is not a measurement of the finished meal.

  • start from an empty diet and add the foods you choose
  • set raw, cooked or steamed preparation
  • review taurine, arachidonic acid and vitamin A
  • follow each product contribution when an amount changes

Cat diet analysis: 68 parameters and available thresholds

The analysis covers 68 parameters, including taurine, arachidonic acid, vitamin A, calcium, phosphorus and Ca:P. For nutrient results, it shows which products contribute and how much.

Reference values appear only where the selected implemented NRC, FEDIAF or AAFCO set defines the relevant threshold for cats and that parameter. Missing MR, RA or SUL in a source is neither zero nor automatic confirmation of a safe dose.

  • taurine and arachidonic acid for a healthy adult cat
  • vitamin A in its preformed dietary form
  • calcium, phosphorus and the Ca:P ratio
  • iodine, zinc, copper, manganese and selenium
  • nutrient sources and the share provided by foods and supplements

A manual plan or an optional proposal you can reshape

The primary path can be an empty diet built by hand. Alternatively, the calculation engine can create an optional proposal from nutritional data, information about the healthy adult cat and available thresholds.

The proposal is not automatic confirmation that every requirement is covered. After it is generated, you can change every product and every amount, and the feline analysis recalculates the result.

What to review in the cat diet calculator

  • the healthy-adult cat profile and estimated daily portion
  • raw, cooked or steamed preparation
  • taurine, arachidonic acid and vitamin A
  • calcium, phosphorus and Ca:P for a healthy adult cat and the selected reference set
  • the results of all 68 analysis parameters
  • which products provide nutrients and in what share
  • which thresholds the selected source actually defines

How does the cat diet calculator work?

Enter information about a healthy adult cat, choose the preparation method and add foods with their amounts. BARFLAB reviews 68 parameters. For nutrient results, it shows product sources and shares, and thresholds only when the selected source defines them.

Can I use it as a homemade cat food calculator without the generator?

Yes. You can manually start from an empty diet and enter every product and every amount yourself. The calculation engine’s optional proposal remains a separate path.

Does the calculator include taurine?

Yes. Taurine is one of the 68 feline analysis parameters. The result shows its amount and product contributions, and a reference threshold only when the selected reference set defines one.

Can I calculate a cooked diet for a cat?

Yes. BARFLAB supports raw, cooked and steamed diets. Processing-related changes are estimated from available factors and depend on the food and preparation method.

Does the calculator support kittens, illness or therapeutic diets?

No. The current scope covers healthy adult cats. Growth, pregnancy, lactation, illness and therapeutic diets are not currently supported; BARFLAB does not diagnose conditions or replace individual professional assessment.
