This article explains how BarfLab processes personal data related to the website, help center, and apps.

Where the data comes from
Data may come:
- directly from you when you create an account, complete a profile, save a diet, or contact us,
- from payment providers, app stores, or subscription tools if you purchase a paid plan,
- automatically from your use of the website or app, for example through technical logs and data needed to maintain security.
What data we may process
Depending on how you use BarfLab, we may process:
- account data, such as email address, login identifiers, and account status,
- service data, such as pet profiles, diet data, saved recipes, exports, and app settings,
- support data, such as emails, attachments, and support history,
- billing and subscription data, such as selected plan, billing status, transaction identifiers, invoice data, and limited information received from billing providers,
- technical and security data, such as device information, browser or app version, IP-related logs, error logs, and fraud-prevention data,
- website data, such as cookie or local storage preferences needed for basic site or app operation.
Why we process data
We process data mainly to:
- provide and maintain the service,
- create and operate accounts,
- synchronize saved data across devices,
- handle subscriptions, billing, invoices, and support,
- secure the service and prevent abuse,
- comply with legal, accounting, and tax obligations,
- establish, exercise, or defend legal claims,
- communicate with you about your account or support case.
Legal bases
Depending on the situation, we process personal data on the basis of:
- performance of a contract or steps taken before entering into a contract,
- compliance with a legal obligation,
- our legitimate interests, especially service security, abuse prevention, support, and claims handling,
- your consent, where consent is required by law.
Recipients of data
Data may be shared with service providers that help us run BarfLab, such as providers of:
- hosting or infrastructure,
- email and support tools,
- billing and subscription handling,
- app store distribution,
- accounting and legal support,
- security or technical maintenance.
Some providers may act on our behalf, while others, such as app stores or payment providers, may act as independent controllers for their own processes.
International transfers
Some service providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. If that happens, we use safeguards required by applicable law, such as contractual protections or providers covered by recognized transfer mechanisms where available.
Retention
We keep personal data for no longer than necessary for the purpose for which it was collected.
In particular:
- account and service data are usually kept while your account is active,
- after subscription expiry, account and related service data may be deleted after 1 year of inactivity,
- if you delete your account, account data is removed without undue delay,
- invoices and data required for tax, accounting, fraud prevention, or legal claims may be retained longer where required or permitted by law.
Your rights
If applicable law grants you these rights, you may request:
- access to your data,
- rectification,
- erasure,
- restriction of processing,
- data portability,
- objection to processing based on legitimate interest,
- withdrawal of consent where processing is based on consent.
You may also lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority, including the President of the Personal Data Protection Office in Poland, if you believe your data is processed unlawfully.
