Warnings are there to explain what is off in the recipe and what needs attention.
What you may see
Depending on the current formula, the app can highlight:
- nutrient deficiencies,
- excessive amounts,
- imbalanced ratios,
- concerns relevant to the animal’s species and life stage, such as taurine in cats.
Where the thresholds come from
BarfLab evaluates the recipe against a single set of BARFLAB limits: minimum requirement (MR), recommended allowance (RA), and safe upper limit (SUL). These thresholds were built on the NRC 2006, FEDIAF 2021, and AAFCO 2023 standards, separately for dogs and cats.
How to use them
- Open the validation or analysis section of the recipe.
- Check which nutrient or ratio is highlighted.
- Read the explanation shown by the app.
- Adjust ingredients, portion sizes, or supplements.
- Re-check the result after every change.
Important
A warning is not just a red light. It is context for the current recipe. The goal is to understand what is out of range and then correct the formula deliberately instead of making random changes.
