This article explains how BARFLAB processes personal data related to the website, help center, and apps.
In short
- We process data needed to run accounts, synchronization, subscriptions, support, and service security.
- We receive data primarily from you, from social sign-in providers, from the billing channel, and from your use of the apps or the website.
- Website analytics run only after you give consent in the cookie banner; telemetry in the apps is managed in the app settings.
- After account deletion, account data and content are deleted without undue delay, but some data (e.g. security logs, accounting data) may be retained as required by law.
- For privacy matters, write to kontakt@barflab.io.

Where the data comes from
Data may come from:
- directly from you, when you create an account, fill in a profile, save a diet, join the waitlist, or contact us,
- from a social sign-in provider (Google, Facebook, or Apple), if you sign in with their account — we then receive basic data such as email address, name, and profile picture,
- from the payment operator, app stores, or subscription tools, if you buy a paid plan,
- automatically from your use of the website or apps, for example technical logs, data needed to maintain security, and analytics and diagnostic data.
What data we may process
Depending on how you use BARFLAB, we may process:
- account data, such as email address, name, sign-in identifiers (including social account identifiers), account status, and sign-in history,
- service data, such as pet profiles (including pet health data), diet data, saved recipes, diet generation history, and app settings,
- photos and files you add, such as a pet’s profile picture or attachments to reports,
- waitlist or early-access sign-up data, such as email address, name, country, and user type,
- support contact data, such as email messages, attachments, and ticket history,
- billing and subscription data, such as the chosen plan, payment status, transaction identifiers, and limited information received from the payment operator, app stores, or subscription tools,
- technical and diagnostic data, such as device, system and app version information, error reports, server logs containing the IP address, and abuse-prevention data,
- website data, such as cookie or local storage preferences needed for the basic operation of the site or apps,
- analytics data, such as visit statistics and usage events on the website or in the apps.
Analytics, diagnostics, and consent
The barflab.io website and help center. We use two tools, and both run only after you give consent in the cookie banner:
- Google Analytics — visit and usage statistics for the website,
- our own telemetry — anonymous events (e.g. page view, button click) sent to our own infrastructure.
We also honor the browser’s “Do Not Track” setting — when it is enabled, website telemetry is not sent. Your decision is stored in your browser (local storage); you can withdraw it by clearing site data for barflab.io in your browser settings — the banner will appear again on your next visit.
The BARFLAB apps. In the apps we collect:
- anonymous analytics data (Firebase Analytics and our own telemetry) — you can turn these off in the app settings,
- error and crash reports (including through the Sentry tool) — these keep the service stable; an error report may be linked to your account to enable diagnosis,
- diet generator telemetry — we record generation runs, results, and errors to improve diet quality.
The apps contain no ad networks, show no ads, and use no advertising identifiers.
Purposes of processing
We process data mainly to:
- provide and maintain the service,
- create and manage accounts,
- synchronize saved data between devices,
- handle subscriptions, billing, and support,
- secure the service and prevent abuse,
- understand how the website and apps are used and improve the product,
- meet legal, accounting, and tax obligations,
- establish, pursue, or defend claims,
- communicate with you about your account or report.
Legal bases
Depending on the situation, we process personal data based on:
- performance of a contract or steps taken before entering into a contract,
- a legal obligation,
- our legitimate interest, in particular regarding service security, abuse prevention, error diagnostics, support, and handling claims,
- your consent, in particular for website analytics.
Data recipients
Data may be shared with parties that help us run BARFLAB. The key providers are currently:
- Google Cloud — hosting, infrastructure, and file storage,
- Google — outgoing email (e.g. verification emails), Firebase Analytics, and Google Analytics on the website,
- Apple (App Store) and Google (Google Play) — app distribution and billing of mobile purchases,
- RevenueCat — subscription state management,
- Stripe — payment processing in the web application,
- Sentry — error and crash reporting,
- Google, Facebook, and Apple — if you use their account to sign in,
- providers of accounting, legal, security, and technical maintenance services.
Some parties act on our behalf, while Stripe, Apple, Google, and Facebook may act as independent controllers for their own payment, purchase, sign-in, and subscription processes.
Transfers outside the EEA
Some service providers may process data outside the European Economic Area. In such cases, we apply the safeguards required by applicable law, for example appropriate contractual clauses or other recognized transfer mechanisms, where available.
Retention period
We keep personal data no longer than needed for the purpose for which it was collected.
In particular:
- account and service data are, as a rule, kept for as long as the account is active,
- if the account remains inactive after the subscription expires, the account and related service data may be deleted 1 year after expiry,
- if you delete your account, account data and saved content (pet profiles, diets, photos) are deleted without undue delay,
- regardless of account deletion, we may retain data that must be kept for tax, accounting, security, or claims-related reasons — for example server logs, anonymous telemetry events, or waitlist sign-ups made independently of an account.
Your rights
Where applicable law grants you these rights, you can request:
- access to your data,
- rectification of your data,
- deletion of your data,
- restriction of processing,
- data portability,
- objection to processing based on legitimate interest,
- withdrawal of consent, where processing is based on consent.
You can also lodge a complaint with the competent supervisory authority, including the President of the Polish Personal Data Protection Office (UODO), if you believe your data is processed unlawfully.
